The free social traffic and navigation app, Waze, has announced that they have reached 20 Million users. This is most impressive primarily because the company says 1.8 Million “Wazers” joined just within the last month. The mobile app relies solely on real-time information provided by their users. The app allows drivers to report accidents, traffic jams, police sightings and hazards in real time. Users can also fix map issues, update gas prices and check-in to favorite locations.
The social scoreboard component is a fun way to make long commutes more bearable – and even short drives more fun! Each trip accumulates points – so the more you drive, the better your score. Points and coupons can also be earned after reaching certain “achievements,” such as driving 3 times in one week, having 5 friends join or simply by adding a report. Social scoreboard ranking is based on overall percentages, so scores are constantly changing – which keeps it competitive. Weekly achievements and VIP status can also be awarded. The hands-free features are also very helpful, making it easy and safe for drivers to participate.
